Even in the void at creation, God was present.

“Light on the Water” is the first track on the album, Genesis Jubilee.

Before the first day, before form or structure, there was God, brooding over the deep. His Spirit hovered. His Word spoke. Light split the darkness, not from the sun or stars (they would come later), but from His presence alone. This was more than physics—it was a revelation of the One who would be “the light of the world.”

The ancient waters reflect a deeper reality: that even in the void, God was present. Creation began with light, and so too does new creation—in Christ.

When we sing this song, we’re not just recalling the first morning. We are joining it. We're remembering that the same Voice that called light from darkness still calls hearts from death to life.

Lyrics

Verse 1
Before the dawn, before the time
The world was water, dark and wide
But You were there, still and deep
Your Spirit moved, Your love would speak

Pre-Chorus
No sun had risen, no stars to shine
But glory broke the veil of night

Chorus
Light on the water, Voice in the wind
Mercy was moving before it began
Out of the silence, a world was born
Light of the ages, Love in its form
You were the song, before we could sing
Light on the water, beginning of everything

Verse 2
You wrapped Yourself in robe of flame
And whispered stars into their names
You shaped the dust, You kissed the clay
And called the morning into day

Bridge
Let there be light—let there be grace
Let the same voice shine on this face
Let the same breath fill this soul
The One who spoke still makes us whole

Final Chorus
Light on the water, Word made flesh
Stepping from glory into our mess
Out of the silence, the Savior came
Carrying hope, burning with flame
You are the Light, no darkness can hide
Light on the water, still shining bright
