"Laughing Sarah,", the second track on the album, Genesis Jubilee, shifts from cosmic awe to personal promise. It’s rooted in God’s faithfulness to Sarah and Abraham but brims with gospel hope: God brings joy out of barrenness, laughter out of impossibility.

Devotional Reflection

Sarah laughed—but at first, it was a cynical laugh, born of age and disappointment. She had heard the promises for so long, but her body said, “Too late.” And yet, God asked: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

When Isaac was born, her laugh was no longer bitter but bursting with joy—a miracle laugh. That’s the arc of redemption: God turns disbelief into delight.

This song is more than historical—it sings to anyone who’s waited so long, it hurts to hope. The gospel lives here too: another promised child would come, through a young woman instead of an old one. One child of promise paved the way for The Child of Promise.

Lyrics

Verse 1
I heard Him say it years ago
“From you a nation’s gonna grow”
But I’ve been counting every line
And my child-bearing days are far behind

Pre-Chorus
I laughed out loud inside the tent
Thought I was too old to be heaven-sent
But heaven had a different plan—
He said, “I AM who I AM.”

Chorus
 I’m Laughing, laughing Sarah
Tears in my eyes and a baby in my arms
He turned my sighin’ into dancin’
My waiting into a brand new start
Who knew joy could feel like this?
He gave me laughter with a kiss
From doubter to mama, my story’s His—
I’m Laughing Sarah

Verse 2
I told the women at the well
That I had a tale to tell
A God who hears, a God who sees
Who writes joy into your deepest need

Bridge
Is anything too hard for God?
Can He breathe life where hope is gone?
If He can bring a child from me
Then wait and see—He’s gonna set you free

Final Chorus
Laughin', laughin’ Sarah
My heart’s a cradle for His surprise
He keeps His word, He keeps His promise
And I just laugh ‘til the tears fill my eyes
He ain’t finished with you yet
You just wait on what you ain’t seen yet
When grace comes runnin’, joy's what you get—
Laughin’ Sarah
