Track 5: “Dance on the Shore” on the album Genesis Jubilee, is where liberation breaks open into celebration. This moment in the story—the crossing of the Red Sea—becomes not only Israel’s physical salvation, but a spiritual pattern that points forward to the gospel: rescued by grace, brought through water, and set free to worship.
This track should feel like a spiritual dance floor—joyous, embodied, but deep with meaning. Miriam’s tambourine meets future echoes of baptism. We’re not just fleeing Egypt—we’re marching into a land of promise, toward the Lamb who will one day make a way through death itself.
Lyrics
Verse 1
We stood at the edge with fear in our eyes
Pharaoh was comin’, clouds filled the skies
But You split the sea with a holy breath
And we walked through the valley that once meant death
Pre-Chorus
Didn’t run alone—Your fire led the way
Your mercy held the waters back that day
Chorus
Now we dance on the shore with our hands held high
What once was the grave is now the place we survived
You made a way where there was none before
We crossed that sea—and now we dance on the shore
Verse 2
The waters closed on our yesterdays
Chains on the floor where the fear used to stay
You brought us out to bring us in
To the land where the promise and the Lamb begin
Pre-Chorus
Not just to flee—but to be made free
You crossed us over to destiny
Chorus
Now we dance on the shore with our feet unbound
The song of redemption is the only sound
You wrote Your name on our rescue story
We crossed that sea—now we dance in Your glory
Verse 3
This ain’t just escape—it’s a brand-new birth
We’re a people of promise, of heaven on earth
Baptized by fire, washed in the flood
We are the children of deliverance and blood
Pre-Chorus
So lift your voice, tambourines rise
Our freedom march is our sacrifice
Chorus
Now we dance on the shore with the sun on our face
You brought us through into marvelous grace
No more Egypt, no more war—
We crossed that sea—now we dance evermore
Verse 4
We crossed the water—not just to flee
But to find a land where a Lamb waits for me
A land of rest, of peace, and bread
A table set where the captives are fed
Pre-Chorus
So take off your shoes, this ground is holy
The God who saves now walks before me
Bridge
Walked through the water! (Walked through the water!)
Came out clean! (Came out clean!)
Egypt behind me! (Egypt behind me!)
Now I’m free! (Now I’m free!)
Buried that shame! (Buried that shame!)
Rose to sing! (Rose to sing!)
Ain’t no grave—can hold this King! (No it can’t!)
Final Chorus
We dance on the shore with a gospel shout
The sea turned preacher, the chains cried out
From death to life, we are restored—
We crossed that sea... now we dance on the shore!
Devotional Reflection
The Exodus isn’t just Israel’s story—it’s ours. They passed through the sea not just to escape, but to be claimed, re-made as God’s people. The waters of judgment parted so they could walk free. This is a gospel shadow: we too walk through death into life—not by our might, but by the mercy of a Deliverer.
Jesus is the true Moses, leading us through a greater Exodus, into freedom from sin and slavery. Baptism becomes our Red Sea—our burial and rebirth—and our tambourines are now tuned to Calvary and resurrection.
Let this be a celebration song, but one that remembers: the dance on the shore only comes after the night of trust and the wind that split the waters.
