Verse 1
Holy night, so much unfolds,
Footsteps and whispers, no peace to hold.
Almighty Father, be my guide,
How can I guard my child and bride?
Mighty God, give me the strength,
To walk the path You’ve planned at length.
Verse 2
When will we rest? They come so near,
Shepherds and strangers with stories to hear.
Sent by the angels, their song so bright,
But, Father, I wonder: Is this all right?
Is this all from Your mighty hand?
Though I’m uncertain, help me stand.
Verse 3
Voices grow louder, the night feels wild,
Yet in the manger rests the child.
My heart is troubled, my thoughts unsure,
But, Lord, Your plan will still endure.
Though I am anxious, Your will is clear,
You guided the path that brought us here.
Verse 4
Stars in the heavens, they beam so bright,
But I’m lost in wonder, such a holy sight.
Your whispers say, “Fear not, My son,”
But how can I know what must be done?
Overwhelmed, I feel so small,
Teach me to trust Your plan through all.
Verse 5
Strangers proclaim such wonders here,
The Savior is born, the King is near.
The shepherds have told us of angels bright,
Glory to God, and peace tonight.
Mighty God, Your word is true,
But will this peace be for us too?
Verse 6
The night grows still, Your love remains,
The burden I held dissolves its chains.
I cradle them both, Your gifts so true,
And trust, O Lord, you'll see us through
Mighty God, we rest this night
In the warmth of your Holy Light.

[spoken, child's voice]
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
