Track 12, “The Lord is My Song,” on the album, Genesis Jubilee, end our journey with a shout of unshakable joy. It is the triumphant finale, drawing from the Psalm that opens wide the gates of salvation and dares the redeemed to enter in singing. Psalm 118 is quoted throughout the New Testament, from Palm Sunday (“Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”) to the Resurrection (“The stone the builders rejected…”).

The King has come, the grave is empty, the gates are open, and we are marching in.

Lyrics

Intro
This is the gate of the Lord
The righteous shall enter!
This is the gate of the Lord—
Let the joyful shout go forth!

Verse 1
Out of my distress, I called on the Lord
He opened up wide what was closed before
They circled like bees, but He turned them away
And now I will live—I won’t die today!

Chorus
The Lord is my strength!
The Lord is my song!
He’s become my salvation—
He’s been all along
The stone that was cast off
Is now where I stand
My Rock and Redeemer
The Son of Man!

Verse 2
This is the day that the Lord has made
I’ll rejoice, shout loud, and be unafraid
He brought me through fire, through battle and flame
Now I dance in the light of His holy name!

Chorus
The Lord is my strength!
The Lord is my song!
He’s become my salvation—
He’s been all along
The stone that was cast off
Is now where I stand
My Rock and Redeemer
The Son of Man!

Bridge
I cried, “Hosanna!” and He came to save
He rolled the stone back, He conquered the grave
Now the gates are open, and the King’s alive
Let the whole world sing—He reigns on high!

Tag Chorus
You are my God—I’ll praise You!
You are my King—I’ll sing!
You are the Rock of Ages!
You are my everything!

Final Chorus
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
(He is good!)
His love endures forever!
(Forever!)
Let the house of the Lord now say—
He has become our song today!

The Lord is my strength!
The Lord is my song!
I’ll praise His name…
All day long!

Mega Outro
This is the gate of the Lord!
We enter in with praise!
The stone the world rejected—
Is risen from the grave!
Let every voice in Zion sing—
Salvation is the Lord’s!
The Lord is my song forevermore!

Devotional Reflection

Psalm 118 is the last of the Hallel psalms, sung during Passover. It’s very likely that Jesus Himself sang these words with His disciples the night before the cross. So this isn’t just a victory chant—it’s a battle cry of faith in the face of death, a defiant song of hope.

This is the Psalm that says:

  • “I will not die, but live.”
  • “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.”
  • “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the people cried “Hosanna!” from this psalm.
When He rose, the “stone the builders rejected” became the Cornerstone of the Church.

This song declares: “The Lord is my Song.” Not my circumstance, not my strength—my salvation sings.

Scriptural Foundation

  • Psalm 118 – “The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation!”
  • Matthew 21:9 – “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes…”
  • Acts 4:11 – “The stone you builders rejected… has become the cornerstone.”
  • Revelation 7:10 – “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
