Storm creates icy mess across much of Maine

A storm that moved into the state Monday evening brought with it a wintry mix that left roads slick ahead of the Tuesday morning commute.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for much of the state, except the western mountains and Aroostook County, where a winter storm warning is in place, and the Down East coast, which will be largely spared, according to the National Weather Service.

Slick roads lead to several crashes in Shelby County

SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) – Though some may enjoy the early snow,
authorities say the road conditions can be dangerous with streets becoming
slick due to snow and ice. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says deputies
have been busy with several crashes reported Monday evening, including drivers
sliding off the road.

It’s not a surprise, really. It’s Ohio,” says
West Milton resident Levi Fair.

Rain prevents ODOT from pre-treating some Miami Valley roads

CELINA, Ohio (WDTN) – In Mercer County, the sheriff already
sent out an advisory warning that the roads are becoming slick and that drivers
should exercise caution while driving.

Matt Bruning with ODOT says the rain has proved a challenge because they couldn’t come out and pre-treat the roads, but they are ready to roll out as soon as the shift to snow starts.
