Miami University postpones Men’s and Women’s Basketball games amid Coronavirus concerns

OXFORD, Ohio (WDTN) — Miami University has postponed upcoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball games due to concerns over the Coronavirus.

The University postponed Tuesday’s Men’s Basketball against Central Michigan and Wednesday’s Women’s Basketball game against Western Michigan.

The decision comes just hours after the Butler County Health Department announced two possible cases of Coronavirus at the university.

Woman killed, 2 children hospitalized in Miami County crash

TROY, Ohio (WDTN) — A woman died and two small children were hospitalized after a crash in Miami County early Friday.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. Friday on S.R. 202 near Fulton Farms, south of Troy.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office says a passerby alerted a deputy in the area to the crash.

When the deputy arrived at the scene, he found a vehicle that had run off the road and flipped over.

Fire at Miamisburg manufacturing plant forces workers to evacuate

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) — Workers at a Miamisburg manufacturing plant had to evacuate after a fire early Thursday.

It happened around 2:40 a.m. Thursday at the Avery Dennison plant on Monarch Lane.

An employee tells 2 NEWS his shift had just started when a fire alarm went off.

There were 20 workers inside the plant when the fire started. Everyone got out safely.

Fire officials say a motor on the roof caught on fire. Crews were able to contain the fire quickly.

Crews battle house fire in Dayton for nearly 3 hours

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — It took crews nearly three hours to contain a house fire in Dayton early Wednesday.

A 911 call led firefighters to a vacant house on Kumler Avenue, near Superior Avenue, around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

When crews arrived, they found flames coming from the house.

The fire spread to a nearby home. Authorities aren’t sure if anyone was living at the second house.

Firefighters finally got the fire under control just before 3 a.m. Wednesday.

No injuries were reported.

Harrison Township restaurant robbed at gunpoint

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Harrison Township restaurant at gunpoint early Tuesday.

It happened at the Cassano’s on N. Main Street, near W. Melford Avenue, just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say a man came into the restaurant with a gun and demanded money, before running away.

No one was injured.

Crews used a K-9 team to search for the suspect, but didn’t find anyone.

It’s unclear what was taken.

Crash involving semi and ambulance shuts down part of I-70 near Enon

ENON, Ohio (WDTN) — One lane of I-70 westbound has reopened after a crash involving a semi and an ambulance near Enon.

The crash happened just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lanes of I-70, east of S.R. 4.

Authorities say a semi, an ambulance and an SUV were involved in the crash. The semi ended up on its side.

According to authorities, at least one person was taken to a local hospital. No other information about injuries has been released.

Rider killed in crash during motorcycle in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — A West Unity, Ohio man died in a crash during a race in Darke County Sunday.

It happened just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Wildcat Road and Palestine Union City Road.

Authorities say the crash happened during the Treaty City Motorcycle Club’s 74th annual Peace Pipe Enduro.

According to authorities, 48-year-old Steven Vollmar from West Unity lost control of his motorcycle, hitting a tree.

Coroner called to scene of fatal crash in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — The Darke County Coroner has been called to the scene of a crash on Ohio Indiana State Line Road.

The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. Friday near County Road 132. The scene of the crash is north of Union City and west of Rossburg.

Authorities confirm the crash is fatal. No other information about the crash has been released.

Car hits light poles, parked vehicle in Clark County crash

MAD RIVER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — One person was hospitalized after a crash in Clark County early Friday.

It happened on Dayton Springfield Road, near Philadelphia Drive, just before 4 a.m. Friday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a car lost control, ran off the road and hit two light poles and a parked vehicle.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital. The driver’s condition was not released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
