Rain developing, changes to snow by this evening; around 1″ accumulation

Rain will rapidly develop across the Miami Valley by the lunch hour today. Depending on the air temperature there may be a brief mix to start before it changes to all rain.

By this evening, rain will change to snow showers. Most areas will see an inch or less of accumulating snowfall. A few locations, mainly north of I-70 may see as much as 2″. Most of the snow should be moving out of the area by midnight.

Increasing sunshine, good skiing weather

A cool but dry weekend throughout the Miami Valley. Ski fans can start enjoying the benefits of this week’s record breaking cold weather. Perfect North is open this weekend and other ski resorts continue to build snow bases. Sunshine will increase throughout the day as highs reach into the mid 40s.

Original stage play offers opportunities for Dayton’s foster youth

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Phillitia Charlton is the author of Death of a Lie, creator of Death of a Lie empowerment program and director of Death of a Lie the play.

She received the 2019 Montgomery County Artist Opportunity Grant to develop the story of her life as a child in the Montgomery County Children Services system into the book, and play.

Her empowerment program exposes children in Montgomery County Children Services to arts, writing and creative expression.

Crews battle house fire in Dayton for nearly 3 hours

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — It took crews nearly three hours to contain a house fire in Dayton early Wednesday.

A 911 call led firefighters to a vacant house on Kumler Avenue, near Superior Avenue, around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

When crews arrived, they found flames coming from the house.

The fire spread to a nearby home. Authorities aren’t sure if anyone was living at the second house.

Firefighters finally got the fire under control just before 3 a.m. Wednesday.

No injuries were reported.

Milder temperatures this weekend before a major Arctic blast

American Red Cross helping man displaced by Dayton house fire

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The American Red Cross is helping a man displaced by a house fire in Dayton.

Crews went to a house on N. Orchard Avenue, near Oakridge Drive, just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday on reports of a fire.

A 911 caller said heavy smoke was coming from the house. The caller said, “the house is going up in flames.”

When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting through the roof of the house.

The house was heavily damaged by the fire.
