Centerville woman, students show that kindness goes a long way

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) — When you go out of your way to to do something nice for someone or just show appreciation, you’ll find that more often than not your good deed goes unnoticed.

But every once in a while, these acts of kindness can inspire someone else to pay it forward. And it’s happening everyday in the Miami Valley.

I Love Dayton: Business celebrates 100 years with trail of work throughout region

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton business is celebrating a major milestone.

This year marks 100 years since Copp Integrated Systems has been in business.

Since its beginning, Copp was on the forefront of inventing intercommunication. Today, the company specializes in integrated systems and designs and installs fire alarm, PA, and video surveillance systems.

Group searches for homeless in Dayton overnight

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Montgomery County officials spent the overnight hours searching for those who are homeless in our area.

Our work day does not normally start at 3:45 in the morning,” says Kathleen Shanahan, the Housing and Homeless Solutions Program Coordinator for Montgomery County.

Five teams of volunteers from the county, local organizations, and even Dayton Police spent Wednesday looking for people who are homeless.

Kettering, Dayton Public Works prepping roads for winter weather

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – To prepare for the weekend’s winter weather, Kettering and Dayton are treating the streets starting with major highways and roads.

According to Steve Bergstresser, assistant city manager of Kettering, main thoroughfares such as Dorothy Lane, Far Hills Avenue, Wilmington Pike and Stroop Road will be attended to first.

ONLY ON 2: UD police chief leaving; talks accomplishments, challenges

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — In less than a month, UD Police Chief and Executive Director of Public Safety Rodney Chatman will leave for the University of Utah where he will assume the same role.

During his four years in Dayton, Chatman emphasized the importance of community policing and engagement. He says he will bring that style with him out west.
