Officers Issue Call for Help After Responding to Reports of Gunshots

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police officers issued and then quickly cancelled a department-wide call for help after responding to reports of gunshots.

The gunshots were reported in the 100 block of Victor Avenue. Montgomery County Regional Dispatch reports a man with dreadlocks fired the shots. Upon arriving, 2 NEWS crews saw a person in handcuffs put into a police cruiser.

No injuries are confirmed at this time.

Rain is over, winds relax late in the day

The rain is over, after receiving nearly an inch of rain on Saturday. Morning clouds will give way to some afternoon sunshine. Winds will be howling at times with gusts up to 40 mph but relaxing by late in the day.

Tonight winds will become light which may allow for some patchy fog to develop by the Monday morning commute.

A soggy day with gusty winds at times

Some much needed rain will fall across the Ohio Valley today due to a warm front. Rain is pushing northward through the Tennessee river valley into the Ohio river valley this morning.

Rain will become widespread to make for a soggy day. By later this afternoon and this evening winds will become gusty with gusts as high as 30-40 mph.

Vacant house damaged by fire in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Investigators are working to learn what caused a house fire in Dayton early Friday.

Authorities say a neighbor called 911 to report a fire at a house on Alwildly Avenue, near Miami Chapel Road, just before 1 a.m. Friday.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from the house.

Authorities say the house was vacant.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities did not give an estimate of damage caused by the fire. Smoke damage was visible around the windows of the house.

Suspect in deadly stolen cruiser crash due in court

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The man accused of stealing a police cruiser and causing a deadly crash in Dayton is due in court Thursday morning.

32-year-old Raymond Walters will be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. He’s facing more than 20 felony charges, including murder.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. announced Monday that a grand jury had indicted Walters for causing the August 26th crash.
