Turning colder, windy with rain/snow showers on this busy travel day

Changing weather throughout the day. Temperatures rose into the 50s overnight with the rain. Rain ends by 8 AM and then a mix of clouds and sun. This afternoon, temperatures drop through the 40s, with gusty winds and periods of rain and snow showers.

A soggy Saturday with slowly rising temperatures

Much of the day will consist of rain. Light to moderate at times with temperatures slowing rising into the 40s. A warm front pushes into the area tonight and bumps temperatures to around 50 by Sunday morning.

A cold front will then push through on Sunday bringing gusty winds, falling PM temperatures and rain changing over to snow showers with minor accumulations by Monday morning. Sunday will see several hours of dry weather mainly mid to late morning through early afternoon.

Woman shot in the head in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A woman was shot in the head in Dayton late Sunday, authorities confirm.

The incident happened just after 8 pm Sunday in the 4200 block of Wenz Court in Dayton. A 911 caller said she heard gunshots and saw a person laying on the ground, not moving.

The victim’s condition is unknown. 2 NEWS is working to learn more and will have additional details as they become available.

Dayton girl raises more than $20k, makes donation bags for local homeless population

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Abriella Ruby, 12, started Helping Hands for Dayton after noticing the homeless population in her hometown.

It always just hurts my heart when I see people asking for help, because I just don’t want them to not have food that night or not be warm,” said Ruby.

Rain developing, changes to snow by this evening; around 1″ accumulation

Rain will rapidly develop across the Miami Valley by the lunch hour today. Depending on the air temperature there may be a brief mix to start before it changes to all rain.

By this evening, rain will change to snow showers. Most areas will see an inch or less of accumulating snowfall. A few locations, mainly north of I-70 may see as much as 2″. Most of the snow should be moving out of the area by midnight.

Increasing sunshine, good skiing weather

A cool but dry weekend throughout the Miami Valley. Ski fans can start enjoying the benefits of this week’s record breaking cold weather. Perfect North is open this weekend and other ski resorts continue to build snow bases. Sunshine will increase throughout the day as highs reach into the mid 40s.

Original stage play offers opportunities for Dayton’s foster youth

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Phillitia Charlton is the author of Death of a Lie, creator of Death of a Lie empowerment program and director of Death of a Lie the play.

She received the 2019 Montgomery County Artist Opportunity Grant to develop the story of her life as a child in the Montgomery County Children Services system into the book, and play.

Her empowerment program exposes children in Montgomery County Children Services to arts, writing and creative expression.
