City of Dayton looking to redesign flag

DAYTON- As Dayton continues its reinvention and renewal, local leaders are seeking a new flag to represent a changing city and community looking to the future.

The redesign effort will use community feedback and submissions to create a new opportunity for civic engagement, creativity, and unity.

The first City of Dayton flag was designed in 1917, and the flag was redesigned in 1958.

2 dead, 2 injured after car hits pole in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A car hit a pole in Dayton late Wednesday, leaving two people dead and two other injured.

The crash happened just before midnight on Hoover Avenue, near Graystone Drive.

Police say the car was driving east on Hoover Avenue when it ran off the road and hit a pole.

There were four people inside the car when it crashed.

A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims have not been released.

Woman hospitalized after car hits pole in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A woman was hospitalized after her car hit a pole in Dayton early Thursday.

It happened just after 3 a.m. Thursday on N. Gettysburg Avenue, near Oakridge Drive.

Authorities say the woman was driving south on N. Gettysburg Avenue when she lost control and hit the pole.

The car was heavily damaged in the crash.

Medics took the woman to Miami Valley Hospital with reported non-life threatening injuries.

Butler Township Walmart shooting suspect on the run after chase

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — A shooting suspect is on the run after a chase early Wednesday.

Authorities say it started just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Walmart on York Commons Boulevard in Butler Township.

Police responded to reports of a person shot and found a victim with a gunshot wound to the the leg.

The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Authorities have not released that person’s condition.

People told to shelter in place as Dayton standoff continues

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police has surrounded a home on Miami Chapel Road after someone barricaded themselves inside.

Authorities say officers responded to a reported domestic dispute just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the house on Miami Chapel Road, between Campbell and Cincinnati Streets, someone refused to come out. A standoff began at that time.

2 injured after 3-vehicle crash in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – At least two people were injured after a three-car crash in Dayton Monday morning, authorities say.

The crash happened at the intersection of Hoover Ave. and Brooklyn Ave. shortly before 7 am.

Three medics were requested at the scene. One person was reported unconscious after the crash while another person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued in the crash.
