Basketball assignment

Students at The Goddard School in Beavercreek got a rare chance to shoot, dribble and pass with the Wright State University women’s basketball team.

The team visited the school on July 11 for the second year in a row, going through basketball drills and even enjoying popsicles with the students. The players interacted with dozens of children.

“We love coming out and working with kids,” said Kim Demmings, director of operations for women’s basketball.

Helping others

We Serve U is working with area nonprofits to respond to community needs with two donation drives on campus.

The donation drives will benefit Raid Our Closet, a Wright State organization that provides students with free professional attire for the workplace, and Crayons to Classrooms, which distributes school supplies at no cost to teachers of students in need.

“We Serve U has blossomed into an organization that does a lot to help the community,” said Joanie Hendricks, co-chair of We Serve U.
