Fixing a phone that had become unregistered

I accidentally plugged a powered headphone cable into my Moto e4+. I don't know how much power was on the cable but it was enough to cause my phone to lock up and then reboot.

Afterwards, it would not connect to the cell phone network. Text messages could be received but no calls in or out. The cell phone status indicator would cycle between connected and not connected. When "connected" calls would not go out.

Wifi was working fine.

When I checked with my cell phone service provider I saw my phone was included in the active and in the inactive lists.

At first I thought I had damaged the phone. But it looked more and more like it had simply become unregistered.

A quick call to my provider and a new SIM fix it. Up and running with no apparent aftermath from the accidental power overload.
