Collaborate on gitlab project using Eclipse

Clone the gitlab project for which you’ve been granted Developer access

Copy the clone command for the project in gitlab

Let’s say the URL is https://gitlab.com/StarWars/jedi.git

In Eclipse, open Git Bash to the folder you want the project to be in and run

git clone https://gitlab.com/StarWars/jedi.git .

Create a new branch

Let’s say the new branch will be called clone-wars

git checkout -b clone-wars

Add the git repository to Eclipse

File / Import / Git / Projects from git 

Choose Existing local repository as a General project.

Make all your changes

Add .project to ignore

vi .git/info/exclude

Commit changes

git status

git commit -m "added new clone army genetics"

Push your changes

git push origin clone-wars

You will see instructions for making a merge request to merge your branch into master
