Just copied by Drupal 7 sites to a fresh install of Ubuntu Server 12.10. I’m unable to log on. It silently fails. Get no error when using the wrong password. It just returns to the same page.
I’ve verified all the file permissions and have fooled with clearing drupal caches, browser caches and cookies and rebuilding the always corrupted session table. None of this helped.
In the error_log file I see entries like
